ACC Mania

Duke faces a major test against ACC Rivals, Wake Forest, tonight. I am excited to see who will match up on Paul, it should be Dockery, but it will most likely be Ewing or Redick. If Duke is able to win this game easily, it will really catapult their team from surprise sucess to possible Final Four Material. What's up with MD? How did they lose their game to Clemson after coming off a huge win against Duke? They had really started turning around their program...

In Pac-10 ball, UW is still very good. Their game against 'Zona was a tough one to lose but it could have gone either way, Channing Frye just decided to wake up towards the end of the game. Look for the Huskies to reach at least the Sweet 16.

Diogu is a beast and should be dominating in the NBA now...he is like Eddy Curry, but good.

Big games...

There are some monster games coming up this week...actually one main one: UW vs. Arizona. 10 vs. 11. Run' gun vs Run' gun. Athleticism vs. Athleticism. This will be a great game. It will be interesting to see how the Huskies stop Channing Frye and Salim Stoudamire. Two big matchup problems for them. Nate Robinson should be able to dominate Mustafa Shakur, but they may end up putting the bigger Adams or quicker Rogers on Robinson. either way, it's going to be a great game.

Anyone want to chime in on the Duke v. Maryland matchup this wednesday? It could give a chance for Maryland to come back into some kind of spotlight even though they are very weak this year. The question is how many three pointers will JJ Redick hit?

Undefeated update

Kansas goes down.

Illinois and surprising Duke & BC remain undefeated.

In case anyone missed it last night, JJ was pretty much unstoppable, going 8-11 from 3 point land, including some ridiculous long-range bombs. Also, Shavlik was a very efficient 5-5 from the field, with 4 boards, in 14 minutes of play off the bench. With 4 of their next 5 games against MD, Wake, Tech and UNC, it should be an interesting couple of weeks for the Blue Devils.

Wake down..

Wake goes down to Florida State. Von Wafer was nasty...jacking threes all over the place. How often does this happen? A top ranked team will beat another top ranked team then proceeds to lose to a non-ranked, conference opponent? That is the beauty of college basketball. Any team can beat any other team on any given night...

Let's see if Duke can get past the Hurricanes tonight...

Let's go Longhorns

Yay Tejas. Nice work on a big win over Oklahoma State yesterday. UT's freshman really stepped up and outmuscled the OSU guards, mainly Lucas and Bobic. Unfortunately it looks like UT might be losing some players. Well it's reported that stud PJ Tucker is academically ineligible and will miss the rest of the season (rumor). Also freshman superstar Lamarcus Aldridge has some kind of hip injury that could keep him out for a while. It will be interesting to see how this team rebounds from losses like that.

What's the deal with academic ineligibility? How can these guys not stay above the cut? I mean, they have to have tutors and all types of shit. As a coach, I would be furious.

Let's all take a moment of silence for UCONN squeezing past Seton Hall yesterday. Even though the score doesn't reflect it, UCONN did not look that great. They were sloppy again. Luckily for them, Villanueva and Boone were able to dominate.

Back on...

I was gone in NYC this weekend so I was not able to watch much basketball, but from what I saw/read:

-Paul dominated Felton and Wake had an easy time defeating UNC. I think Wake is a much deeper team than UNC and Paul is a better playmaker than Felton. A lot of UNC's sucess depends on how McCants plays. If he is able to keep his head in the game, he can be great. He is such a pure scorer that if he is on, he draws a lot of attention from the opposing defense, leaving things a little more open for Felton, May, etc...It's too bad that the ACC switched their scheduling and UNC v. Wake only happens once this year.

-The Landlord dominated against UVA last night. He had 9 blocks. One block away from a triple double. As much as I don't want to like a Duke player, I have been pretty impressed with his play in the games that I have seen. He dominates the paint and blocks many shots. And once again, Redick was unstopabble from three point land. 28 pts...damn. How did Shavlik play?

-Wisconsin beat MSU. I have always like Wisconsin. They are like a rich man's princeton. Always running hard, lots of backdoor screens, and playing tough defense.

-Huskies destroyed Oregon State. Tre Simmons had 26.

-Syracuse vs. Providence...close game. Any more details from Dave?
